Leaving Home | A Tragicomedy
The time has come that a young adult man has to leave his parental home and stand on his own two feet, or so his father believes. The boy sets out to the world, but somehow it is impossible for him to leave. In this light, absurd and comical little drama, the boy's journey is obstructed by the wierdest of reasons. Or is there something else holding him back?

Finally, I understand what the moral essence of this short film is. When his mother was there, he felt like he had someone to rely on, he found comfort at home. Once his mother has left, he is on his own. Life leaves him no other option than fighting by himself. In real life, it's the same. Once we feel like someone's got out back, we keep on relying on them, sticking to them. Only when we have no one and when life leaves us no choice that we know we can do many things by ourselves. Great story. Many people overlook this point.

One thing I learned from this shortfilm, it’s not the place that’s home, it’s the person who makes you feel home. In his case, his mother was his home.

My Theory is, the son never learned how to do anything by himself. He always relied on the mother to do stuff for him and she would ways give in (Which is why he always made the mom spread the jelly, not even the simplest things he was capable of doing). The dad throws him out to teach him a life lesson so he can learn how to FINALLY make it on his own instead of waiting/relying on people to do things for him. Him not being able to leave the house is basically a sign of him not being able to grow up and finally mature for his age. When the mom dies you see he doesnt even know how to tie a tie on his own. Unlike the mom, the dad is not soft and is genuinley focused on trying to help his child. After the funeral the kid is seen again staring at the jelly and bread but not like last time, he is seen actually using his brain and doing it on his own. The dad notices this and hands him his stuff. But this time very emotional knowing his kid is FINALLY grown up. After he sends him off, he waits. He waits for his "little boy" to come back. Though he isnt regretting letting him go he is having a hard time knowing he will never really have his "little boy" back again.

I believe this story sheds light on those who try to move out but do not have a clue how to be independent. They have pressures from their parents to leave when they turn of age. They go out into the world and try so hard to succeed, but every attempt, they end up back at home. You have to teach the child the skills to think independent before letting them leave home.

I lost my dad when I was 7 years old. It was me my 2 sisters and my mom. Mom always was working to keep a roof over our head. I was a problem and bad teenager running the streets and going to jail a lot. I think she could not wait for me to leave. I am 43 and have been a good law abiding citizen for almost 25 years now, my sisters have left the house also and even with my mom being remarried (step dad has no kids) after all these years she finally told me that she wishes at least one of us would move back home.... man that shit made me cry when I heard it.. Then she also told me in a real scratchy sad voice "I just need my family around me" I had to hold my tears when she told me that... but as I am writing this my eyes are like 2 rivers... My point is never assume you know what your parents especially mom is thinking... they just might surprise you...

My mom died at 6. After that , My dad started doing Drugs and Smoking. he lived with his mom in her basement for a while. my mom and Dad fought a lot , And my sister would always Comfort me. I began to Become more and More Sad that I slit my wrist with pieces of glass. I would Not cuddle with my dad and my sister cause I didn’t feel comfortable. I am uneasy in school due to gazing off and asking for help. In 1-2nd Grade in art , The class was surrounding the small table around me asking how my mom died. I didn’t know how to respond so I started crying, I have Breakdowns when someone mentions my mom and I got Pissed when A Redheaded Boy Made Fun of me for not having a Mom. I had the urge to beat him up but I refused. he even told his friend that I argued, What an ass! I wanted to Say “Go to Hell “ but I didn’t. Just always know life gets better. And I quote to her “ You gave Me Life , Everything is going to fine with or without you. Have a Good Life in Heaven. I’ll visit your grave a lot , I promise.”

@@hannahbeck6965 Well said and God bless your mom and her soul. A mother's love never dies even when we have to lay them to rest. Believe me she loves you still. And yes when we are little kids we say the dumbest stuff. When I was in third grade this kid that I knew pretty well named Max got into with me and we were going back and forth and then he ended it by saying something like "that's why you have a big fat dead daddy" of course my dad was regular size but he threw the fat part to be an ass. I immediately broke down and just cried my little eyes out, the teacher heard it and of course scolded him but the damage was done. Those words did hurt me and I felt like I was less of a boy for not having a dad and it took me many years to understand a little more about life. I have 4 kids and I could never leave or not provide for these little guys. I have now outlived my dad by 5 years as he died when he was 38 and I am 43. I feels weird but as must I repeat I must push on as should you my friend. When we finally get laid to rest we will visit our loved ones and ancestors in the afterlife... that is what is important. I wish you the best and be proud of who you are inside and be a kind person to fellow man and woman and you will be a great person...

What I learned from this short film is that the person had to stand on its own feet at a certain time . He have to come out from his comfort zone and have to go out to explore and experience new people and things. In this film, I see mother showing care and love and affection to the child . Whenever child comes home Mother got happy. Equally the Father of the child is also concerned about him. Not showing affection love dosent mean he dont love him . Actually the father is the one who prepare child to face the reality of the world. from outside he seems to be harsh and strict but he does care. As we have seen he made the child to go out from Home and the child comes back again and again and he pushes him to go out and stand on its own. So the father is the one who make child prepare for future and supports him guide him. So from my perspective, In this film Both parents that is mother and father play an important role. But one has to learn That at the end he has to do everything on its own. So try to go out from your comfort zone and start experiencing new things . Sitting at home would not lead a person to grow . So go out, interact with people learn new things, explore the world.

I learnt how to save money, how to cook, how to pay bills and solve every kind of problem by myself. Now, as an engineer, I only need to focus on mt job, because everything else was properly tought me by life. Leaving home is hard but it is necessary to become a real man/woman.

Tbh there are 3 moral lesson(s) that are in the animation 1. We must be thankful for what our parents do for us and not take It for granted. 2. We must learn how to stand in our own feet, We should be independent and be ready what life might throw at us. 3. In the end, The most important people in our life is our family (Either by blood or emotionally) people who we can trust, And depend on rough times. Early happy parent's day!!

Something that is funnier is that after parents made us leave they want us back after a time. That happened with my grandparents. I went to another country and now they always call me to say how bored they are how they miss me, even crying. I don't understand some adults. I am right now visiting them and they don't want me to leave. Ironic. This is a real story.

Both parents are right and wrong, which is normal, but they both love their child or they wouldn't care about what he did. Dad wants him to be independent and gives him the push to do so. But he should've spent more time teaching him the tools to learn how to survive on his own. Mum gave him endless support, but also coddled him and always did everything for him. At the end of the day, they both wanted what was best for him which is why he kept wanting to come home. But he should be self-sufficient cause sadly our parents won't be here forever and the best dream is to see your child thrive in life. 😊

In my opinion, the father wants the boy to be independent, so whenever the boy depends on her mother, the father let him leave. But the boy is not yet ready to be independent, so he keeps on coming back to their home. And when the mother died, the father taught his boy to be independent and when he saw that the boy could stand on his own, he let him leave again. And when the boy didnt come back, that means he is now an independent man.

It's not about the value of people it's about children being independent and leaving home which obviously changes the status of that home. Parents want independence for their children mostly fathers push children to independence. It is good for the children but it leaves a gap at home filled with loneliness whether the family is composed of both father and mother or just one of them.

I know we have different perspectives about this because our lives are also different, we have our own worlds, different experiences. The real meaning of this short film really depends on how we thought about it, how we really see things differently from it.

I see it more as lesson for parents - you can't kick out your kid and expect him to be independent and responsible adult if you didn't give him opportunity to learn how to do it. No mention lack of any cooperation between parents. Rising kids its not only about feeding them. In the end kid leaves, because he didn't have overprotective mother doing everything for him, but also because dad gave him some time to learn - instead of just kicking him out and expecting results.

Love this animated short. I got from it that yes, independence is needed...learning to do things for oneself. But also...that people need people. And that we often don't realize the impact others presence has on us, until those persons are no longer present.
